pure fascination
We had such a treat this morning - construction guys working on the electrical poles in our alley. There were trucks, cranes, loud noises, hard hats - everything that little boys love!!

lesson #2,581 for mommy (& daddy)
ALWAYS PUT THE COVER BACK ON THE GRILL AND THE GRILL TOOLS AWAY.
Otherwise the kids just might decide to use the wire grill brush to "clean" you car. The millions of scratch marks are a real nice touch. And it's really great timing too, as we will be trading in the car within the next month for a giant boat that can fit 3 car seats. Bummer.
OOPS!! LESSON LEARNED.

playing "pool"
since it is so warm (and a little rainy) today, Kate decided she wanted to play "pool". apparently this meant putting on our bathing suits and running circles around the house.

Kate found some baby sunglasses that she just HAD to wear!

run, run run!!

it's so much fun to have a sibling!!

special trips
we had Mavs tickets a few days after getting back from Hawaii and I really did not want to leave the kids again for an evening so we decided, instead, to take them on some special mommy and daddy trips. Jack got to go to the Mavs game with daddy, Mike and Claude and Kate and I went to her very first movie - Beauty & the Beast 3D. the kids were a little hesitant to separate, but both were excited about their respective trips.
Guys Night Out - the Mavericks game

Guys Night Out - the Mavericks game
Jack did really well for the first half of the Mavs game - his typical stoic, take-it-all-in attitude, but was a little restless by the end of the half. Will thought this was great timing because surely they would have some fun half time show like always - a magic act, dogs catching frisbees, guys playing the drums - something to grab his attention again.
no such luck. it was 250 ladies doing a jazzercise routine. what?!
so that is when you resort to a little ice cream!
and he actually made it through the whole game!!
Girls Night Out - Beauty & The Beast 3D
Kate and I got dressed up in dresses (of course) and went to the mall for some dinner and a movie. she was so anxious to get to the movie that she raced through dinner and we were there before the theater was even open. so while waiting outside, she made a friend with 6 year old Scarlett. Scarlett had candy and popcorn and therefore Kate decided she had to have some as well.
so, of course, we had to go back to the concession stand for some candy and popcorn!
the 3D glasses. besides the 30 minutes of previews and commercials before the movie started, the glasses were my downfall. she wasn't a huge fan of the glasses and wanted to take them off after about 30 minutes. and that's when she got pretty squirmy. during one scary part, Kate climbed up in Scarlett's lap (because of course we had to sit next to her). Scarlett loved it - she just wrapped her arms around Kate and snuggled her. Scarlett's grandmother and I just laughed and let them be, but this only lasted about 10 minutes.
about an hour into the movie Kate turned to me and said, "it's time to go home now mommy." she was ready so I didn't fight it. I asked her a few times if she wanted to stay and see the whole movie, but she was perfectly content with what she saw and was ready to go home and tell Jack all about it!

nap time with daddy
how sweet is this?!

and a little closer look
Kate had gotten in trouble during nap time and had to spend her nap in the pack-n-play in the guest bedroom. this sent her into total hysterics and she could not get herself in control. so daddy went in to try to help. looks like everyone got pretty calm!
